The Smell of a Chop

I mentioned wanting to fit in new sail panels in my last post and today when I got home I cut a pattern to be used on both sides out of card stock.  The paper didn’t want to make the compound curve but it did allow me to figure out where I needed to cut.

A Little on the Side

We we’re all pretty wind-blown and wore-out when we got home from The Hawks Saturday Football games, Jack and David from ”leaving it all on the field” and their Mom and I from jumping up & down and cheering from the sidelines ;^) but with how much I’m enjoying this, I just couldn’t stay out of the shop and took just a few evening hours to tinker with the ’40.

I brought the two sections of roof to the point were they’re welded together approximately every 1/4″. This takes some time since you have to skip weld all around it to prevent the heat from building up and warping the sheet metal, creating more bodywork instead of accomplishing any.  Continue Reading »
